Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul. Psalm 66:16

Does your heart really matter?

Everything that we do at The Goal Is Life is about the heart. And everything we communicate is directed at your heart. I hope that this is evident to you as a visitor of our website.

We do this because we know that your heart matters the most in life. It is the most important organ in your body, and not just because it is pumping your blood and consequently keeping you breathing -it is so more than that. Let me give you a few examples why your heart matters:

God says this about your heart:
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it (Proverbs 4:23)

The Apostle Paul says this about your heart:
That you may be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith (Ephesians 3:16-17)

And this is what your Brother -Jesus says to you:
Anyone who loves Me, will be loved by the Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them…and we will come to them and make our home with them”(John 14:21-24)

Why does scripture in general put a emphasis on your heart your think? More that 700 references to be a bit more specific. Apparently your heart is important for your christian life, your walk with Christ and moreover for your ability to relate to God the Father. God wants us to take good care of our hearts, because this is the place were our life originates. According to Jesus’s teaching, this is the place where He and the Father live. This is in fact the key component in our body through which we receive life with the Holy Trinity.

And realising that the heart is key is huge because it also leads to intimacy, not only with relationships in our personal lives but especially if we want to receive guidance, direction, advice on matters that are important to us. We simply cannot function properly – the way God desires us to journey through this life -without the divine intimacy from Jesus -our Brother.

Don’t underestimate the importance of your heart. God is also warning us to take care of our heart; “Above all else, guard your heart” apparently we able not to take care of it. We can actually mistreat our hearts. The problem we face then is that we -especially men – switch to autopilot and approach life rationally. What gradually will result into a life of solitude, derived from deprivation. The damaging lack of the guidance, love and affirmation we so desperately need as son’s of the living God.

How important is your heart? Romans 10:9-10 says this:  If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and therefore justified. Apparently, it is not based on what you know that is saving your life. Your salvation has absolutely nothing to do with knowledge, but it has everything to do with the grace of receiving an intimate relationship with Christ our Lord and this takes place within our heart.

If we are ever to discover the life God so desires for us, then it is of the utmost importance that we listen to our heart, we must take care of it so we can draw closer and come in alignment with Him. Practically this means to be quiet and listen.

I would invite you to take time today, find a quiet place, be still and ask Jesus a simple question. Something like: “Lord, what would you like to say to me?”

I look forward to hearing what your received from your Father.

Love, strength & honour,

Michael
