The image above is of course just a joke, but we definitely are dealing with an adversary who is, as it is said in Revelation 12 verse 10, accusing us before our God day and night. And I can assure you that he does not utter anything positive about us.
And perhaps we may not be even aware that we are, in fact, his biggest supporter in this. Because how many times (a day) do we say awful things about ourselves? Many women (and maybe also men) are unhappy with their appearance and say things like: “I am ugly, I hate my legs, my nose is ugly, I am stupid or I am not worthy”. And this way we are playing into the hands of the enemy. He loves it when we are not pleased with ourselves because it saves him a lot of work. You see this way we have become our own biggest accuser.
And especially in the case of hating (certain parts of our body or even our whole body) is in fact a form of cursing yourself. Like it is said in Proverbs 18 verse 21: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue”. You empower the enemy and he can use that to make you ill.
How many women aren’t saying: “I want to be her” or are comparing themselves to other women? Not long ago I stumbled across the following quote: “Comparison is the thief of joy” by Theodore Roosevelt (president of the USA) and this quote is really striking. Because when we compare ourselves to other people we become miserable and we lose a piece of happiness over our lives.
Even the bible says that comparing ourselves is foolish. II Corinthians 10 verse 12: “… those who compare themselves with one another are not wise”.
But how do you think God would feel if you are so accusatory towards yourself? Don’t you think this is making Him sad? What you actually are doing, is going against Gods’ design. God was extremely pleased with creation, as stated in Genesis 1:
“When God created the heavens and the earth, God said about everything he created that it was good. But when he created mankind in His own image, He said it was very good”.
If God is more than pleased about us, why would we accuse ourselves, right? So stop this and be grateful about the way he created you.
As David says in Psalms 139 verses 13 and 14:
For you formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvellous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
So stop accusing yourself, ask forgiveness for all the nasty things you have called yourself and forgive yourself for this as well. Renounce those awful things you said and from now on, stop saying them. Know that you are beautifully made by God and that you are incredibly valuable in His eyes and live that out!
And … just let satan do his own work. God is deaf anyway to his nonsense about us.
