Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul. Psalm 66:16

We all want to be blessed in our lives and most of us think in the category of prosperity, wealth, a beautiful home, a nice car, good wages and good health. And we do not think about it twice. In this life on earth we do have certain desires and we all want God to come through for our wishes. And when He does not, we can be disappointed in Him. We all strive in life for things to own. We convince ourselves to think that if we have this particular job or position, then … I’ll be happy or satisfied or then I’ll have achieved something. Or when I can buy this bigger house then …

But we are deceived. The reality is, that things turn out to be different to what you imagined. You become busier in your new job. Time for family, friends has all of a sudden disappeared, not to mention time for leisure or your hobbies. And this bigger house, it comes with more maintenance, cleaning, gardening and thus less time for family, friends or God.

It is a pitfall to think that if I have this or that, you feel validated and have your act better together.
It is a trick of the enemy to keep you away from God. You are distracted and busy building your own kingdom instead of Gods Kingdom. Our validation does not come from owning things or doing them. Our validation comes from our Father. Just like Daniel was validated by God; “you who are highly esteemed” Daniël 10:11 or Jesus in Matthew 3:17 “This is my son, whom I love, with him I am well pleased”.

What does God wants to do in our lives?

God is not after our comfort in life. What would we learn from that? If he was to give us everything our hearts desires we all would be spoiled brats with none responsibility to hold. He wants us to grow, first of all closer to Him. To get to know Him for who he really is. And to grow spiritually. On this earth we are trained to reign for the next season of our lives (Matthew 25:34). And for that we need a new mind-set. We can teach ourselves to focus on Him and on our spiritual growth instead of the temporary things here on earth. Do not let your mind be captive and do not let yourself become a slave of materialism. It will never bring you the freedom you wish for.

God wants to bless us and help us grow. Keep in mind whatever your circumstances are, Love is operating in your life. God is after your heart and your growth.

Let us build His Kingdom.
